HUNTLY SPEEDWAY 21/11/09
10 cars were present tonight, 2nz, 7r, 11r, 14h, 17h, 26h, 32h, 55h, 64r, 66h.
RACE 1. 2nz Shaun Cooke was off the front row for this race and lead the race from start to finish. a lot of cars had dnfs in this race with 11r and 26h having a coming together and both not restarting, 14h had carb problems and completed 1 lap and Jarvis Tidd in 17h had his dizzy fall off the car and stop. This race also welcomed Nic Sparrow in 66h to our class and he completed the race without any problems and come to grips with the car.
RACE 2. 14h Jason Bryant was off grid 1 and again only lasted the 1st lap, having carb problems still. This race had Daniel Thomas in 55h take the win from 26h Dayne Maxwell and 2nz Shaun Cooke. The rest of the field were all driving well and no incidents happen. Daniel set the quickest lap time with a 14.4sec which a split sec off the record. He was also clocked at doing a 117km/h down the back straight from a radar gun.
FEATURE. Fastest to the rear and Indian file was used again. Jarvis Tidd 17h was off row 4 and was in the lead by end of the 1st lap. He pulled away from the field and set the quickest lap for the race of 14.8sec. Nicole Waugh continued her recent form and held of Cooke and Dayne to take 2nd. Her placings of late just prove the format were are currently running is improving peoples confidence and skill levels and is creating a level playing ground amongst all the drivers. If Nicole keeps this up I think Tony might need to let her race the nzs and not him. Brad Milne had the only incident of the race with a tyre blow out that caused him to back into the wall. Feature placing were. 17h, 11r, 2nz, 26h, 55h, 32h, 64r, 66h with 14h and 7r having dnfs
">KIHIKIHI 15/11/09
11 Cars fronted for 2K's first minisprint meeting of the 09/10 season, 1NZ, 2NZ, 7R, 11R, 14H, 26H, 32H, 37K, 64R, 73K, 76K.
The two heat then a feature with the top points scorers to the rear indian file was adopted.
Race one saw Mark Edwards take the win from Grid 2 followed by Shaun Cooke (Grid 7) then Brian Edwards (Grid 9)
Race two finally got underway after a 45 minute rain delay, Full credit to all the drivers who spent that entire time sitting belted up in their cars on the infield. Good effort!! The drivers were rewarded for their patience with a super smooth drivey track surface. Brian Edwards (Grid 3) winning the race followed by Shaun Cooke (Grid 5) with Tony Hartigan (Grid 4) putting in a solid drive to come in third.
Race three came around very quickly with the rain delay throwing the programe into disarray, All 11 cars were present for the Indian file highest points to the rear of the field start, Although changing track conditions proved to be something of a challenge with setups, The surface itself remained dead flat. QUITE POSSIBLY THE BEST KK HAS EVER BEEN!!
The feature was fought out over 15 laps, With Shaun, Brian and Mark starting from the rear of the field a good race was eminent. Brian made his way through the field early but was hunted down by a hard charging Shaun Cooke, Cooke taking the win with what is possibly a new lap record of 14.6909 seconds from Brian Edwards (2nd) and in third place a solid drive from Bradley Milne (Grid 1).
All in all a great days racing was had by all, comment was passed from the speedway officials in the tower as to the quality of the cars this year, and the high standard of racing, particularly in the feature.

NEXT WEEKEND MEETINGS -21/11/09 Huntly
-21/11/09 Palmerston North
31/10/09 WAIKARAKA PARK OPENING MEETING
11 cars turned up for tonights opening meeting at Waikaraka. (1nz, 2nz, 9a, 11r, 14h, 26h, 31p, 37k, 52a, 73k, 76k) Numbers were down because of some early engine malfunctions and cars not quite ready. It was really good to see Brett Giles 31P from Palmerston come up to get amongst the action and Julian Webster make his return to the track after a few years away.
RACE 1 The track was quick and in top condition. Zac Kennedy got the jump in the 9a machine and was hard chased by 1nz Mark Edwards, Mark taking his opportunity to pick up his 1st win for the season in the last lap. Regular winners from last season 2nz Shaun Cooke and 73k Brian Edwards followed in behind them and pressed the issue for track postions but couldn’t make any inroads on the 2 in the front. 26h Dayne Maxwell was progressing well mid pack and took all chances given to him to gain more positions. Brett Giles was settling in well to the unfamiliar track and drove well to finish mid pack. I wont talk about myself cause I sucked. 1nz, 9a, 72k, 2nz, 26h, 14h, 37k, 31p, 11r, 52a
RACE 2 The track was greasy and started to dry and slick off towards the end. 3 cars were missing from the start due to engine problems so only 8 started. This time 73k and 2nz had it there own way and were off on there own crusades. Brian took the win from Shaun with Dayne and Mark taking the next 2 positions. A few ruts started to appear and were causing a few minor driving line problems but nothing major. 73k, 2nz, 1nz, 26h, 37k, 31p, 11r, 14h
RACE 3 Fastest to the rear for the 15 lap feature and Indian file start to. 11r Nicole Waugh was the most impressive in this race. She took the early lead with 14h Jason Bryant in behind. Jason could not catch her as she pulled away from the field. Finally from the rear Brian and Shaun got past the pack to mount the chase on the leader. Nicole didn’t give up and it took Brian a few laps to get past her, Shaun was next to try and after a few attempts finally made it stick. Most other struggled to come to terms with the slick and greasy track conditions. FEATURE PLACING 73k, 2nz, 11r, 26h, 1nz, 14h, 37k, 31p

13 cars showed for tonights meeting. Tonights meeting was our 1st at Huntly and there were trophies for 1st three places getters. 1nz, 2nz, 7r, 9a, 11r, 14h, 17h, 26h, 32h, 55h, 64r, 73k, 76k were the cars in attendance.
RACE 1 This race seen the return to the track for 32h James Cossey and on grid 2. 14h Jason Bryant was on grid 1. Finally 14h hooked up well in the soggy track and took a good lead to comfortably win. 73k Brian Edwards come from mid pack to finish 2nd and Cossey come home in 3rd. All cars finished and no incidents to report. 14h, 73k, 32h, ?,?,?
RACE 2 Only 1 non starter with 9a having engine problems again. With 73k off grid 2 the win was almost non achievable from the rest of the field. Brian lead from start to finish with 2nz Shaun Cooke coming in next and 26h Dayne Maxwell 3rd. Was a very fast pace race with the top 3 all getting close to breaking the lap record of 14.35sec. The track was starting to rut up in turn 3 & 4 but everyone managed to finish without a problem. 73k, 2nz, 26h
RACE 3 Another car DNS with 7r not making the start. 1nz Mark Edwards was off grid 1 with 2nz off grid 3, both got good starts and took a commanding lead. Shaun passed Mark and took the honours. Once the rest of the field settled there was limited passing with most cars competing well and holding good lines. 2nz, 1nz, 55h
Trophy winners
1st 73k (36pts) 2nd 2nz (35pts) 3rd 26h (30pts)

7/11/09 WELLINGTON OPENING MEETING
The first meeting for Minisprints in Wellington for the new season kicked off last night with 11 cars turning up to race. Most of the field were Palmerston North cars but it was good to see three cars representing Wellington in the form of 11w, 4w and 65w. Before racing started the Minisprint drivers got together for a quick meeting to sort out how the starts were to be run for the night. The same starting procedure as Palmerston North worked great with no major problems except the minor mishap of the having no starting box for the first heat. Race one was the second event of the night so a slightly wet track to start with but still very fast. Chad Ace in the 77p car had a perfect first race winning by over 11 seconds. There were close battles throughout the pack with 44p Gareth Huzziff taking 2nd, 8p Nathan Jefferies 3rd, 34p Quin Clark 4th and 11w James Hadley rounding out the top 5. The second race was held up initially because the ambulance at the track had to rush off which meant the cars sat lined up on the track for a few minutes after they had already completed a couple warm up laps. Once the race started 34p drove away from the field to win heat two with 8p taking a close 2nd from 12p Gavin Lucas in 3rd, 43p Trevor Stephenson 4th and 77p 5th. The 3rd and final heat was event 16 on the programme and the track was a bit damp early on in the race. Once again 34p did everything right and ran away with another race win. After more great battles 12p took 2nd from 43p in third, 99p Sheridan O’Hara 4th and 44p 5th. Overall 34p Quin Clark took the win and also the fastest lap time of the night with 8p Nathan Jefferies 2nd and 44p Gareth Huzziff 3rd. Everyone seemed to enjoy the night and we look forward to seeing more cars at the next Wellington meetings as we build up to the Wellington Minisprints Champs on March 20th.
25/10/09
Well Palmerston kicked off the minisprint season last night with 22 cars in attendance. 2 cars from wellington, 2 from Huntly, 1 from Rotorua and the rest were from Palmy. Only 2 races were acheived due to the 1030pm curfew. Losing the last race was basically the minisprints own fault through some over eger driving and drivers wanting to win the race in 1st corner.
RACE 1. Once the starts were sorted there were some awesome battles happening. 1st race saw 81p Shaun Rice take the lead on the 1st corner from grid 5 after 2 attempts to start because of a snail pace pacesetter, which saw cars stall and choke up. Once Ricie was in the front no one could come close to taking the win from him and he comfortably won from 72P Steven Bouys and 53P Kevin Roberts. Further back in the pack there was some close racing between Huntlys 17H Jarvis Tidd, 26H Dayne Maxwell and 3 Palmerston cars. Neither could put space between each other. None of them did anything stupid and all finished well. Alot of broken down cars in the infeild with only 13 cars finishing 1st race.
RACE 2. Another Shocking pacesetter, but this time the front 2 cars were at full speed by turn 3 and the green didnt come on. The front cars seen this and slowed down but this didnt leave room for the drivers behind, that didnt see the lights and 9p rode a right rear and up and over a few times, he ended coming to rest on all 4 wheels against the wall with a basically writen off car. He was out of car without injury thankfully. On the restart the front cars were sent to the rear and basically the front 4 spots were free. This allowed 8p Nathan Jefferies to take the lead from a hard charging Dayne Maxwell and Jarvis Tidd, the 3 battled for the entire race with Dayne trying serveral times to make the pass but Nathan kept his cool and drove well to take the win from Dayne and a smoking motor of Jarvis. The rest of the drivers were extremely close behind with some new drivers showing good lines, speed and with a bit of time will be right up there in the placings. Again 20 cars started and only 10 finished.
My conclusion to tonights meeting are: Once the starts were sorted the racing was awesome but until we can sort out 3 issues (the time it takes to grid up, pacesetter speed and the starts) then we will always be on the back foot from the promotors and public at all tracks we race on. This could cause less meetings, shorter races and angry drivers within the class.

Well what a start to this season. RAIN RAIN and more RAIN
Welcome to the new season. There has been 12 cars that have made a appearence at the 3
practises run so far. we were meant to have huntly opeining on the sat just been but rain
prevented that from happening early in the week. next week opener at wellington has been
postponed also. both these tracks will hold there 1st meetings for our class on the 7th nov.
Palmerston will be the 1st track to hold the minisprint class for the 09/10 season with
us being there on the 25th oct as long as the rain doesnt ruin it again. Following that we
will be at Waikaraka park for there opener on the 31st oct and then to Huntly on the 7th or
wellington. Kihikihi has our 1st meeting down for the 15th nov with rotorua having our 1st
meet there in late november.
The speed of the cars that have been out so far has been impressive with the edwards team
showing good pace (hopefully mark can drive faster than he can walk this year), CSR chassis
builder and former 1nz minisprint champ Chris street would be very impressed with the 1st
of the 4 new cars he has built this season, with the performance of Dayne Maxwels 26h car at the 2 practise he has attended. chris has done alot of research and with alot of help from the knowledge he got from harris race cars has developed a car that looks the goods and has performed straight out of the box. This is also helped by a strong motor built for Dayne from Cooke engine services. Tony Hartigan has brought the ex 3nz/46h car of chip humbles that he and step daughter nicole waugh will race out of rotorua under 11r. Brad Milne 7r has a well presented car this season and has made it to 2 practise sessions so far and we hope he can put in a whole seasons worth of driving.
WE WILL ENDEAVOUR TO UPDATE THIS WEEKLY
